Scott Carter at LDRS-26 with his PML Cirrus Dart ready to fly on an Aerotech H123 motor.

Scott and I (Vern) have been flying rockets together since 1994 when he was just 10 years old.  We have attended five LDRS launches together since that time.

At LDRS-16 in Hartsel Colorado, Scott won first place in a contest with this same Cirrus Dart on an H123 by getting the closest to 5000 feet without going over. He reached 4,955 feet and won a very nice trophy as well as a Top Gunn rocket kit from Loc Precision.

Above Scott Carter and Nadine Burgemeister head to the launch pad.  Nadine had the Walston radio tracker ready just in case it was needed to find the Cirrus.  After all, it was Friday the 13th!

The Cirrus Dart was not carrying an altimeter on this flight so we don't know exactly how high it went.  It should have reached about 5,000 feet.  It landed on the dry lake bed so the Walston tracker was not needed to find it.  It was undamaged.  All in all, a very routine flight for the old reliable Cirrus!

On Saturday, July 14th, Scott flew his white, scratch built rocket named "Subsonic" on an Aerotech I218 Redline motor.  It leaped off the pad so fast that we all missed the liftoff photo.   It was a very nice flight and it too was recovered right on the dry lake bed without any damage.
